Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is a British-American musician and sitarist. She was the first and first female to win a British House of Commons Shield she's had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to play live and to act as a host at the awards ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, an Indian young sitar star. She is both the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Born in London She spent her early years of her life moving between London and New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years old. Later the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in 1999. Anouskha still has a promising performing and recording careers, even though she's only a teenager. She regularly performs together with her dad, and has performed with him for quite a number of years. The year 1998 saw her released Anourag as her first single album. She released the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years after. Stage performance is a significant part of her work. She has performed in a variety of important venues across the world. The career of Anoushka doesn't only include the world of music. Bapi The Love of My Live is her 2002 novel, and was a tribute Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in movie in 2003. She played as a Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is still progressing in her career and we can expect many more things to come from this amazing woman. Anoushka lived a long her time in London and Delhi in her early years. Later, she moved to California to finish high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration Anoushka first made an appearance as a sitar player in front of the audience at the age of four, following her nine year old father. The father of Anoushka travelled the world with her and she gained many experiences. While still at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. She was the youngest and only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament to recognize her musicianship and talent as a preeminent musician of music in Asian Arts.
